Insights into the SCHUNK CoLab
This application example from SCHUNK illustrates how automated quality control of turned parts can be realised. For this purpose, an EGP-C Schrunk gripper was mounted on a Universal Robots jointed-arm robot. The robot picks the components out of the holder and then holds them in front of a camera, which then performs the quality control and is able to identify the smallest scratches and pressure marks. Depending on the result of the inspection, the parts are either pelletised by the robot or sorted out in case of a failed inspection.
Various work steps in the area of quality assurance can be easily automated with the help of robots. In this way, employees can be relieved of monotonous tasks. In addition, the investment often pays for itself in a few months, as the robot is often able to work in a 3-shift system.
