In this application for a customer in the food industry, spices needed to be transferred from a tray into a carton. The challenge was the high precision required due to the tight tolerances. However, this was easily overcome with an igus gantry robot and a flow gripper. The gantry robot enabled precise and repeatable positioning of the spices, while the flow gripper ensured gentle handling of the delicate products. By combining these technologies, an efficient and reliable solution was achieved for the customer, significantly enhancing both product quality and production speed.

It consists of a robotic arm that is moved along a line or rail to perform a series of tasks.In the food industry, as shown in the igus customer test, such a system can be used for “pick and place” tasks, for example.

The robotic arm, equipped with a flow gripper, can pick up food products and place them in another location. This can be useful for packaging processes, sorting tasks, or other applications.

As part of a customer test in the Customer Testing Area of igus in Cologne, a test setup was realized for a customer. The aim of the test was to evaluate the pick-and-place process for the food industry. Specifically, the aim was to pick and place mushrooms from the conveyor belt. Cost-effective automation thanks to igus Cobot

In the application video, an igus Cobot, also known as "Rebel", is presented. It is used for the pick-and-place of circuit boards as part of a customer test.

The Rebel is a collaborative robot that has been specially developed to work directly with humans. The video shows how the Rebel is tested in a real production environment. The focus is on the task of pick-and-place of circuit boards, a common requirement in electronics manufacturing.

The robot picks up circuit boards, moves them to the desired location and places them precisely. The ease with which the Rebel performs this task demonstrates its ability to increase production efficiency and reduce employee workload.

In this application, a pick-and-place solution was tested for a customer using an igus linear robot, a camera, and a conveyor belt. The integration of the camera for detecting and positioning the metal part, along with the precise control of the linear robot, played a crucial role in ensuring the system’s high reliability and efficiency.

In this specific customer application, a cost-effective solution for loading and unloading a laser engraving machine was sought and successfully implemented. The igus ReBeL robot takes on the task of picking up the parts to be engraved and precisely placing them into the machine. Subsequently, a linear system equipped with a laser engraving head carries out the engraving process. Once the engraving is complete, the robot removes the processed part from the machine and places it for further processing or packaging.

Thanks to the low cost of the cobot, the investment in this automated solution pays off in a very short time, making it particularly attractive for companies looking to reduce their production costs while simultaneously increasing efficiency.

In this video, we present an advanced solution for downstream sprue separation of clip bearings in injection molding production. The application utilizes a Delta robot system, IRC, rotary conveyor, an igus vacuum gripper with rotation unit, and a Zimmer gripper to optimize the process and increase efficiency.

The setup of the Delta robot and the integration of the IRC are shown, as well as the operation of the rotary conveyor and the camera for precise detection and separation of sprues. The igus vacuum gripper with rotation unit is demonstrated in action, handling the clip bearings safely and efficiently. The Zimmer gripper complements the process with its precise gripping technique. The entire system operates smoothly and efficiently thanks to reliable power and data transmission.

The benefits of this solution include increased production speed, reduced scrap, and improved workplace safety. Additionally, a low footprint is ensured, facilitating integration into various production environments.
