Cost-effective automation thanks to igus Cobot

In the application video, an igus Cobot, also known as "Rebel", is presented. It is used for the pick-and-place of circuit boards as part of a customer test.

The Rebel is a collaborative robot that has been specially developed to work directly with humans. The video shows how the Rebel is tested in a real production environment. The focus is on the task of pick-and-place of circuit boards, a common requirement in electronics manufacturing.

The robot picks up circuit boards, moves them to the desired location and places them precisely. The ease with which the Rebel performs this task demonstrates its ability to increase production efficiency and reduce employee workload.

Automated handling of snail shells

In this particular customer application, the task was to transport snail shells to various positions within a cycle time defined by the customer. The main challenge was selecting an appropriate end effector, as the snail shells needed to remain undamaged throughout the process.

After careful consideration and analysis of the requirements, the decision was made to use a SoftGripper. This type of gripper is characterized by its flexibility and adaptability, allowing it to conform to the shape of the delicate snail shells. This not only ensures safe transportation but also minimizes the risk of damage.

The choice of the SoftGripper was crucial for the success of the application, as conventional grippers, due to their rigid structure, would not have been able to handle the fragile snail shells without causing damage. By using the SoftGripper, the required cycle time could be met while preserving the integrity of the snail shells.

The setup of the gantry system and the integration of the Epson Scara are shown, as well as the operation of the rotary conveyor and the Variobotic shaker cameras for precise detection and positioning of the ball bearing components. The setup of the Delta robot and the integration of the IRC are shown, as well as the operation of the rotary conveyor and the camera for precise detection and separation of sprues. The igus vacuum gripper with rotation unit is demonstrated in action, handling the clip bearings safely and efficiently.
