In this video, we present an advanced solution for downstream sprue separation of clip bearings in injection molding production. The application utilizes a Delta robot system, IRC, rotary conveyor, an igus vacuum gripper with rotation unit, and a Zimmer gripper to optimize the process and increase efficiency.

The setup of the Delta robot and the integration of the IRC are shown, as well as the operation of the rotary conveyor and the camera for precise detection and separation of sprues. The igus vacuum gripper with rotation unit is demonstrated in action, handling the clip bearings safely and efficiently. The Zimmer gripper complements the process with its precise gripping technique. The entire system operates smoothly and efficiently thanks to reliable power and data transmission.

The benefits of this solution include increased production speed, reduced scrap, and improved workplace safety. Additionally, a low footprint is ensured, facilitating integration into various production environments.

The operation of the insertion process is shown step by step, demonstrating the precise positioning and handling of the components. The seamless integration of the insertion system into the existing injection molding machine will then be demonstrated, including the communication interfaces and control logic.

In this customer application, a classic pick and place task is shown, as it often occurs in the production of cosmetics or medicine. The application was realized with a Delta robot from igus and a conveyor belt. The 3-axis Delta robot with a working diameter of 360 mm was specially developed for fast pick and place tasks and is supplied in two different sizes with matching controllers. With this low-cost product solution, both employees are relieved and costs are reduced, since self-lubricating and maintenance-free drylin ZLW toothed belt axes are used in the robot.

In this pick and place application, the Delta robot from igus conveys Easter eggs from the basket directly into the egg cups. For typical pick and place applications, the Delta robot is ideally suited due to a positioning accuracy of +- 0.5 mm and 60 picks per minute. Based on a modular system, users can choose between a compact kit for do-it-yourself assembly or pre-assembled in a transport frame. Now new with calibration mandrel for easy positioning on the zero point. It is fixed directly to the mounting star and simplifies the calibration process. The cable clip for the Delta robot was developed for safe cable routing, for example, of individual pneumatic hoses along the coupling rods. Easy to mount, very low weight. The low acquisition cost of the robot allows you to realize a fast ROI and build up a versatile production.

igus Delta robot in combination with a vision system

This pick and place application presented at the Hanover Fair is a very special application with a high savings potential. The igus Delta robot was equipped with a vision system for object detection. However, this is not an expensive camera system, but a simple webcam for about 100€. This could be fully integrated into the igus Robot Control and thus keeps the costs of the cell low. The camera is available on request.

igus offers Delta robots for a wide variety of tasks. Typical applications of our drylin® delta robots are pick and place, conveyor belt picking and stacking tasks in three-dimensional space. In combination with a gripper or vacuum pump, picking tasks can be implemented very quickly. The Delta robots can be used for applications with precision requirements of 0.5 mm, with a load of up to 5 kg and a max. speed of up to 3 m/s. Our Delta robots are largely made of our tribologically optimized plastics and enable high cost savings. The igus® Delta robots are compatible with the igus® Robot Control System. The igus Robot Control is the first choice to flexibly and efficiently solve automation tasks in the lower and medium performance range. The communication between the control and the software with the same name takes place via Ethernet or WLAN. In addition, the control offers several interfaces via different communication protocols through integrated functions such as the Modbus or the self-developed CRI interface. The igus Robot Control enables simple and intuitive robot control and programming and thus an easy entry into automation. The modular design allows different igus kinematics to be controlled.

This customer application shows the automated process of a pick and place of theatrical makeup. The line gantry robots from igus allow such applications to be used inexpensively and lubricant-free. In the video, the gantry takes the small containers from the rotating fixture after they have been printed by another machine and places them on another line for the next process step.

Our gantry robots are ideal for automating simple tasks and, thanks to the low investment costs, the acquisition costs are amortized within a very short time.
